A month of thoughts

Over the past 30 days all everybody has been talking about is the Trayvon Martin case. If you have not heard of it by now (which I doubt) it is the case of a black teen who was murdered by a white neighborhood watchman. Surely i didnt have to put the race of the parties involved but it kind of makes you wonder is race really the factor in this situation? but you also have to ask why not? George Zimmerman, head of his neighborhood watch patrol is accused of killing Trayvon Martin, a regular high school kid who was wearing a hoodie and had a bag of skittles in his hand. Usually my blogs are filled with a lil bit of light humor but I find nothing funny about this at all. There is no blog that can write about the rights that need to be done in place of the wrongs. There is no tweet that can describe the trends of injustices that this is starting to follow. The fact that this man has not been arrested for anything after 30 days is ridiculous and shows the disease that has plagued the minds of certain Americans. Never mind the race but a child is dead and a mother does not have that child anymore. For anybody in law enforcement to not see that and let that man walk around free is disgusting. And this incident has kinda woke people to the world around them. Some celebs have spoke out about it and there have been protests all across the country but still nothing has been done on the law enforcement side. And some of the aftermath of this ordeal is just as worse. Even in releasing the 911 tapes which puts Trayvon as the victim but there are reports to claim\ Trayvon was the aggressor. So I say all that to end with this. No fuckin hoodie is gonna protect you from anybody that doesnt like you for reasons they were born and raised upon. You can block every bigot from your facebook and ignore every friend request from someone you THINK is a racist, but there are million more out there looking you in your face and shaking your hand. And their minds are plagued with hatred. And some of them cant wait to leave you dead in a fuckin street so they can infect you and your family with that same hatred and let you do something that will catch their punishment.

Free At Last!!!

It's official whistle!! Peyton Manning is out of my Texans' lives for good, the AFC South is up for grabs again, and a little to my dismay Tebowmania is done!! Or is it? Cause just as recent as 2 months ago Tebowmania was at its zenith when he threw an 80 yd game winning TD in overtime against the Steelers in a playoff game. Now the Broncos are looking to throw him when they signed Peyton Manning, arguably the greatest free agent in NFL history or whatever Adam Schefter has been saying in my head for the last 2 weeks. But the funny thing is this. Ever since Tebow started his run, players and coaches in the league have been divided on whether Tebow is a good quarterback or just another great college quarterback who is prolonging joining the college analyst booth. Now will be the time to tell who is about Tebow and who isn't. There are teams out there who need quarterbacks (Miami, Cleveland, Jacksonville)but the free agent QB's out there really isn't exactly winning any Madden games for me. Outside of Peyton Manning, I believe the most bragged on free agent QB was Matt Flynn, Aaron Rodgers' backup. Not a bad way to go considering who he sat behind but at least boost up a starter. As for Tebow, it may not be so bad considering he actually has an offseason this year to work on his skills. But whoever goes after him better pray harder than he will that it works out.

Talkin Shit

Not even a full month into the new year and already the newest internet craze has hit. This year the viral trend have been videos about what ppl say and they are all based off the "Shit Girls Say" video. Soon more videos began popping up about different "ppl". And "ppl" include but not limited to (rappers, black guys, white girls, asians, christians, republicans, Obama, etc.) So I thought about sharing a few of these that caught my eye

1. Shit Black Girls Say and Shit Black Guys Say

There should be a black version to everything; it's written in the constitution. But I thought Billy Sorrells did his thing in this short viral clip in which his character, "Peaches", goes through, allegedly, all the sayings of an everyday black girl.

This may be my second fav of all these videos since i say a good percentage of these lines. Ive never used the line about "your own eyes" but oh it will be used.

2. Shit Broke People Say

Video is funny as hell cuz its so fuckin true. Im addicted to dollar menus and figuring out cover charges. And i damn sure know about them overdraft fees!!

3. shit football fans say

Many ppl that know me , know how big of a Texans fan I am and Ive gone thru all these emotions and phrases for years. Well now that they made playoffs it means a few more weeks of goin thru those emotions and phrases.

4. What didnt you say?

So with all the videos tellin us what ppl say, the funniest videos in my opinion have been what ppl do not say.

I honestly have not heard many of these words come from a black person's mouth. But you have to check out part 2 of this video as well. Amazing ending!!

This is no doubt the funniest of all the videos ive watched. The skinny jeans bit in here is hilarious!!!

Playoffs?

January has come back around for that ass and that doesnt jus mean its time for you to break New Year's resolutions (yo fat ass aint tryna walk). Nope!! It's NFL playoff time!!! This is where legends are born, stories are made, and commercials start getting a lil bit better. This year should prove no different with your mix of new teams and old favorites.

1. The New Guys
The NFL postseason has gotten a makeover this year that rivals the "playoff beard". As i mentioned, there are six new teams in the NFL playoffs this year. Only 2 of those teams (Houston, Detroit) have not had a posteseason berth in the past 10 years. Those same 2 teams also have starting quarterbacks making their postseaon debut as well as other new posteason teams: Houston with 5th round pick T.J. Yates; Cincinatti with the "red rifle" rookie Andy Dalton; Detroit's Matthew Stafford; San Francisco's long tim
e farter starter Alex Smith; and the media's cash cow known as Tim Tebow. By now a lot of football fans have heard Tebow's story of his professional career
and should be tuned in to see him take on the Steelers. Don't be surprised if Tebow Time becomes a broke Rolex.

2. Old Reliables
Congratulations if you picked the Steelers to make the playoffs this year, or the Patriots, or the Ravens, or the Saints. Woop de fuckin do. You should be as much a psychic as much as Kim Kardashian should lead marriage counseling. Unfortunately the Steelers had a very competitive division this year and a few rough spots (oh im sry, thas PR talk for got that ass spanked by Baltimore) so they ended up with a 5th seed. Nevertheless they are back with their Super Bowl opponent from last yr , Green Bay Packers. Packers have put up enough points and yards this yr to be relied upon to make playoffs next season also.

3. Hot Heads
In recent seasons, the "best" team has not really won the Super Bowl. When I say that I mean the No. 1 and 2 seed usually lose the Super Bowl or get beat in their conference's playoff by any of the lower seeds sometimes a 5 or a 6. Those lower seeds are usually on the brink of playoff elimination towards the end of the season and have to almost run the table to get in. Their "win or go home" mindset has been turned since before the season ended and usually it will allow them finish the season in the . This year that team is the Giants. This team is "hot" for the fact they were on the edge of being put out of the playoffs then they win their last 2 games to take the NFC East secure and a home playoff game. Hard to say whether or not Giants can even get to the Super Bowl, but when you have a quarterback whose last name is Manning, chances look better than everyone else.

NFL playoffs are always the shizzz and this year should be no different. Now back to your regulary scheduled boring life without me. holla black!!

Talkin Heat Shit: My Pep Talk for Lebron James

Dear Lebron James:

This is it nigga!! The NBA Finals!! I aint got any stats for you, no gameplan, jus this bullshit pep talk. You made a bold ass decision to leave the place you grew up in all for this moment right here. And you had a right to. I aint gon discredit that. You wanted to get help as a Cleveland Cavalier to win a championship and they bring in Antwan Jamison. Hell if they brought in Antwan Jamison to Shipley Donuts i would stop eating donuts. But the point is this road has been a long and winding road. Think of the shit that has gone down since then. Your city hates you!! Yo mama got arrested!! Yall were being called overrated, crybabies, and counted out from winning the title even as recent at the beginning of the playoffs. Hell Bin Laden had a cap put in that ass. Thas some bad shit right? But look at what happened when it mattered. You beat the Sixers. You beat the champion favored Celtics in 5 games nonetheless. You beat the Chicago Bulls who were favored to beat you after the first game and after D Wade got dunked on. You figured out a way to win in clutch situations. But none of that shit will matter if you do not win this championship this year. Nothing at all. Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh (never really mattered anyway), tha pep rally, the decision will all go to waste if you do not get the ring. Think im tryna scare just look around. Everybody is gettin better: New York, New Jersey, Chicago. The Eastern Conference is gonna be what the Western conference was in the past decade. Before you know it, youre frm the bottom at the 8th seed wondering when am i gonna get my chance again? Well fuck that, go after the chance you have now. Fuck all the glitz glamour bullshit that ur usually associated and play some fuck in basketball. Make dunks, make 3's, get your assists up but most of all dont make sure people are watching but make sure they WITNESS!!!!

my prediction: Heat in 7. Holla Black

New Mixtape: "Too Fat for Skinny Jeans" to be released on December 2

I would like to announce that my next mixtape will be titled: "Too Fat for Skinny Jeans" and is going to be released on my birthday, December 2 of this yr. My past 3 mixtapes have all had unique titles and has carried a significant meaning with each one. This "Too Fat" mixtape will aim to highlight my commitment to makin undergound in a true B-SimmS fashion. Not jus skinny jeans but hip hop has put out characteristics that try to develop into the mold for what artists should be and not who they are. But this title is my statement of saying lyrically I have too much weight to fit in the threads of conformity and if I do fit in them then I am goin to stretch those muthafuckas out. Production on the mixtape will include my homey B. Star and Sev Da Producer. It's jus about halfway done, so on December 2, dont put bday wishes on my wall, jus download my mixtape frm datpiff.com. lol. Thanks in advance guys!!! Holla Black!!! Peep some of the tracks at the bottom to hold you until the mixtape drop.

Where's The Beef?: The Importance of Lyrical Battles

Unfortunately this title may seem a little misleading, because you may think this article will tell you that lyrical battles are everything in hip hop. Well that statement will get a “yes” and a “no”. Honestly, if you look at the current state of hip hop right now that importance seems to have been dissed.

Rap battles are how rappers earn their respect from all rap fans, whether casual or hardcore. Rap is suppose to be the music genre from the streets and with it comes basic principles that you learned while growing up. It’s an eye for an eye mentality and that mentality has put many rappers into the ring and tested how much of an MC they really are. For example, LL Cool J has always been seen as one of the original rappers “for the ladies” but he has had a number of notable battles with Kool Moe Dee, Ice-T, and the famous Canibus beef. Each battle was never a one-sided bout as everyone saw some memorable punchlines from him. It is kind of what gave him respect as a rapper overall and not just some pop sensation.

Battles don’t only test rappers but they have always attempted to cement legacies. A rapper may have a great catalog but everybody is gonna remember that time he stepped up and beat competition directly. So the most obvious example I will give is Jay-Z vs. Nas. Both of these rappers are legends in their own right, but long after it ended, critics and fans alike still can not avoid talking about their careers without mentioning which artist won that battle and eventually overall won in their career.

You know what’s the best about rap battles? They don’t discriminate on anyone. One of my favorite diss songs I ever heard was from a rapper who is perceived as non confrontational, and that person is none other than Common. When I heard his song, “The Bitch in You”, which disses the Westside Connection, it was as hard as “No Vaseline” and almost the 1990’s version of “Ether”. When you think about Common today as an artist, a diss track is not his style. Remember when Jay-Z and Jim Jones were battling? Do not feel bad if you don’t because it wasn’t worth anybody’s memory cells. But that is the beauty of rap battles when you have a superstar like Jay-Z getting caught up in a lyrical riff with some up and coming unknown at the time like Jim Jones. What happens is it shows the hunger of an amateur artist and checks the gas tank of a veteran to see if they still have what it takes to remain on top.

I think of rap battles like when football teams use the running game in their strategy. If you know anything about football, running the football is more of an old school tactic. But teams that use it often are regarded as some of the toughest teams if not one of the top teams. Unfortunately battling is an old school technique that has disappeared today. Artists have opted to a more business-savvy approach of either using sneak disses or avoiding them altogether. Artists that are heavy battlers have not found the same weight career wise as regular artists. But rap will always belong to the streets and produce a competitiveness within music. Artists must decide that when it’s time to lyrically handle rap beef, are you going to be the cook or get eaten like the entrĂ©e.

Do Lyrics Matter?

Its crazy how Waka Flaka Flame thinks lyrics dont matter.Like im really trippin out on how he thinks that is a viable statement because it doesnt matter who you are, lyrics will always matter. Sry non rappin ass niggas, but rappin ass niggas may be here for a while. But ppl will get lyricism confused as jus being one thing. The general perception for lyricism is that niggas are rappin at complex levels , whether its 100 meanings on one line or 100 rymes on one line. Well i aint a general nigga therefore my perception is way dif and this is how it goes: LYRICISM ONLY BOILS DOWN TO CREATIVTY AND RELATIVITY( REALITY). Seems like a pretty accurate hypothesis after a two day thought process but it jus seems true.Creativity makes your mind work more into whut u say and makes you think of better ways to say your message. Its not an easy task, because Ive had to rewrite this intro at least 5 times already. Take a look at Lil Wayne. There are a lot of ppl that say weezy is the shit as well as a lot that say he sucks. What makes Lil Wayne good is his creativity. Im not the bigest Lil Wayne fan, but I admire his creativity on his punchlines and songs. If you listen to rap music "Mrs. Officer" is a very creative radio song and thats rare considering the shit you usually hear on the radio. It wasnt corny, it was cool and it stuck to the whole subject of the song, which was fucking a female cop. Speaking of whut you usually hear, lets speak on relativity or reality. I thnk this is where artists are make it or break it at being named lyricists. Basically over the last 10 years the percentage of rap songs have been about money, car, ho, or all in one. Believe it or not rappers used to to be known for rapping about how people actually feel and not everybody shared the experience of bangin or spending a million dollas without worries. When N.W.A. came out, their rymes were far frm complexity but they were very real. If you listen to any of Eazy E's raps he is no way at the speed of Talib Kweli, but the things he rapped about were so real that later on rap historians put him up there as a lyrical mc. The same goes for 50 Cent . As an underground rapper his lyrics were not even close to the braggadocio (SAT big word lookin ass nigga!!) that everyone is starting to associate him with. Songs like "Ghetto Quran" and "Get out the Club" from his Power of the Dollar album were usually about regular shit that an average person fom the hood would talk about instead of what an average person from Beverly Hills would talk about. To close this blog turned thesis out, think about when you went to an artist's show. Waka Flaka Flame (ol wocka wocka wocka lookin ass nigga!!) says lyrics dont matter as long as he's gettin four shows out the week. Well, if youre gettin 4 shows out the week anywhere then its because of lyrics. Take a look at J. Cole, now he doesnt really have a huge song on the radio et he was able to do a Texas Tour a couple months back. Why? Its obvious because he had soemthin to listen to other than the damn hook. Whut was that something? It was lyrics. That one was pretty easy. But to wrap it all up, lyrics will always matter in some form or another. Its hard to be successful without having some lyrical strength. Fans are always gonna look for that rapper that goes hard, its jus somethin thats apart of the rap game.

The Growing Pain

Im officiciallY fed up after these past few weeks. I keep blowing this Texans shit off but I feel like I have to say something because of all this shit goin on. The Texans are playing like a piece of shit expansion AND NEEDS TO GROW THE FUCK UP!!!! This team has never been this close to the playoffs this late in the season and now theyre bout to blow it with stupid shit. Case and point, the friggin Colts games this yr. Both games they had the lead and blew them. Peyton aint that good. Fuck it I said it and I stand by it. The same QB that threw those picks in the first half is the same one who threw those first downs in the second half. Our defense took a fuckin collapse and gave up. We couldve beat up the Colts in both games. Had Kris Brown made the field goal it would be a dif stoRy. I wont delve into the kicker point cause i wanna rant on this. Kris Brown missed the field goal against Tennesee but im so sick of the dick riders for the titans. Ever since Vince Young came back, everyone has been on the Titans tip. The same ppl that threw Vince under the bus are now beggin to drive his limo. It wasnt long ago that Tenneseee was out of the playoff picture, now at 5-6 (same record as Texans) everybody has them in a wildcard spot for sure. Houston is starting to be filled with mumbles of "Luv ya Blue" and the dredded "if we drafted vince". All of these aforementioned things are happening all while the Texans are accumulating into a deflated state of play. Other words: MELTDOWN!!!! But Texans deserve every bad thing that happens if this is how they play. They are not an expansion team anymore. They have pro bowl talent on both sides of the ball, they put up lead worthy stats, and are capable of playing at a competitve level that rivals most teams. There is no excuse for any losses that happen for the res of the season or ever. Analysts and critics have taken notice to how they have played and I agree with the disapointment they showed to my team. Houston Texans it is time that u stop actin like a bich. Gonbe are the days of being the extras in some other team's highlight reel. Gone are the days of injured players using a Texans' game as a rehab game. Gone are the days when 8-8 is an achievable goal. Those days are over. It is time for you to grow up and show the fuckin league that youre not to be pushed around any fuckin longer. 8-8 is a failure. A championship should be workin its way into your norm. I know it may kill you almost the first time tryna go after it, but jus take that as a Growing Pain.
